The Purchase Process

Buying a building is not complicated, but knowing what happens next makes it easier. Here is how the process runs from your first idea to the day your building is ready to use.

1. Planning and Design

  • Determine the use and the size that you need.
  • Check your HOA and local building ordinance for restrictions. Virginia requires a building permit for any building in a residential area that exceeds 256 square feet.
  • Set a budget.
  • Select a design. Our 3D design tool helps you picture the finished building.
  • Our sales team can help you create a design that meets your needs and your budget.

2. Order and Payment

  • When your design is final, a deposit secures the building so it can be ordered. Lead time is usually three to six weeks depending on the season.
  • If a building already on our lot meets your needs, you can place a deposit and select a delivery date before you leave.
  • We accept all the standard forms of payment. We also offer financing, leasing with no credit check, and 90 day same as cash.

3. Site Prep and Permits

  • Most sheds are set on solid block to allow proper airflow underneath. If your HOA requires a different foundation, we can help with site preparation such as a gravel or concrete pad.
  • Choose a flat area in your yard for the building. Make sure there is a clear path from the road that is at least one foot wider than the building.
  • If you are unsure about access, we can visit your site and review it with you. See our site prep service.

4. Delivery

  • Buildings are delivered and set up at no additional cost within 50 miles of our stores.
  • Our sales team inspects your building for quality when it arrives.
  • Once it passes, we contact you to schedule the delivery and walk through the process with you.
  • The day before, we confirm the delivery is on schedule. If you need to reschedule, please tell us before our team sets out.
  • Our delivery team calls you once your building is loaded and they are on route.
  • On arrival they unload in the spot you choose, set the building on block so it sits level, and check that every door and window opens and closes properly. The driver then asks for your signature on the delivery paperwork, along with any balance due.

5. Ready to Use

  • Your building is ready to use as soon as setup is complete.
  • Ground under a building can settle over time. Contact us as soon as you notice it and we will put it right. You get one free relevel within the first year.
  • We want you to love your building. We offer a five-year warranty, with manufacturer warranties extending up to fifty years.
